How to Hide Relationship Status on Facebook Profile So No One Can See It

By

Introduction

It is funny how much a website can influence the perception of a relationship.  How you update your relationship status on Facebook can send so many messages.

Love. For some, changing your relationship status on Facebook can be the equivalent to sending someone roses, or a sign of taking that true next-step.

Unlove. Yeah, change your status from "In a Relationship" to "Single" can really cement a break up for good.

It can also cause a dilemma. Think about it. You are dating someone special for a little while. You feeling strongly about your partner. You know your partner feels strongly about you but you are not sure how strongly. Do you change your Facebook relationship status on your profile to 'in a relationship' or keep the relationship status as 'single'? Do you ask the person first before you do anything to your profile?

If your answer is 'yes' to any of the above questions you already realize the power of Facebook. Facebook is so ingrained in our social fabric that performing the smallest action on the site can influence your love life dramatically.

If you are uneasy about sharing or updating your love life status on the internet, you are not alone. If you want to keep your love life status on Facebook private, it is easy to do so.

This article will teach you how to hide your relationship status on Facebook so no one can see it.

Step 1 - Log In

The first step is to, of course, log-in to your Facebook account.

Step 2

Then look to the top right of the screen. Click on your name in the right corner of screen to ensure that you are at your profile page.

Step 3

Then look to the top, middle portion of your computer screen. You'll see in small print "edit profile" above your profile. If you do not see "edit profile", take your cursor to the top right of the screen and click on your name and then you'll see 'edit profile' appear.

Step 4

Look to the left side of your screen for the "Friends and Family" link. Click on "Friends and Family"

Step 5

A screen will appear with your name on it and "edit profile "

Just below your name and "edit profile" you'll see "relationship status" Click on the drop down arrow to the right of "relationship status" (actually there is a shadow of head and shoulders just to the left of the arrow if you don't see it)

Step 6

A window will appear with a bunch of privacy options. Select "Only Me" and your relationhip status will be hidden from everyone.

That's It!

Then exit the screen and you are all set. From here on out, your relationship status can only be seen by yourself. In other words, no one else will be able to see it.

I have mentioned this in other articles but I still think that Facebook intentionally designs its site so that it is somewhat tedious to make changes to your privacy settings.  Considering the brilliance of Mark Zuckerberg and his employees, I am sure that he could make the privacy settings a one or two-click process but they elect not to.  Not that this is a horrible thing. I suppose the life of Facebook depends on people being 'found' and 'friended' as easy as possible.  Keep an eye on your settings and be sure you don't expose yourself more than you are comfortable with. You sure don't have to put it all out there.

What If I Want To Hide My Profile Timeline From Someone Completely?

Making your FB profile completely invisible to someone, that is keep your entire existence on Facebook hidden from a particular person, is pretty easy to do.

You can block someone from seeing your profile / timeline, friends, and keep them from finding you in the Facebook search block. I wrote an article on how to do this and linked it below:

Click Here To Block Someone From Finding Your On Facebook

Be forewarned that when you hide from this Facebook user, you can not see them either. Probably not an issue since you are trying to keep off each others radar anyway, but just letting you know.
